Petersen/Getty Images) Pat McAfee’s love for defensive tackle JJ Watt has shone through once again. After spending weeks together on the sports analyst’s CBS show last year, the two seemed to build quite a bond. Now, it looks like the 37-year-old’s intrigue in the former Texans player was increased thanks to a post on social media. In fact, it also did not help that the 35-year-old recently hinted he could make a comeback to the NFL after retiring in 2022. In today’s episode of The Pat McAfee Show, the host talked about Watt’s interview with Houston Sports Radio. The former defense player had an offer for the Houston Texans coach, DeMeco Ryans. He said, “Don’t call unless you absolutely need it, but if you ever do call, I’ll be there.” The hint of a comeback sent fans into a frenzy. Even McAfee agreed, “It would be insane.” Somethin’ like this?👀 You hit it almost spot on. With his franchise records for sacks (114.5) and him being one of the three NFL stars who bagged the Defensive Player of the Year title three times in his career. Once McAfee shared his thoughts on the 35-year-old’s probable comeback, he claimed that the athlete could use his popularity for the greater good. His statement came as the athlete had blessed his fans with some rather hard-to-get Texans hats on X. With his popularity skyrocketing online, the 37-year-old stated, “JJ Watts is gonna be the President of the United States someday, legit.” A run at the Presidency might be a long shot for Watt. However, a potential comeback to the NFL could be on the cards for him. After all, his former coach finally responded to his offer. The 35-year-old had retired from the NFL two years ago. However, he teased that he would come out of retirement and help his former team if they needed him. Now, it looks like his offer might be taken up sooner than he expected. The 39-year-old told reporters, “I love to hear J.J. saying he’s ready. I’ve got his number ready to go just in case we need him.” The former linebacker also added that Watt’s was an “outstanding player” and that he is “proud of him and what he’s able to do for the community.” ADVERTISEMENT Article continues below this ad Ryans was also asked when he would call Watt back in since he made his offer seem conditional. That was when the coach laughed and said, “I need him now, I need to make that call right now. Anytime JJ Watt’s ready to go, I’m ready to go.” JJ Watt’s potential NFL comeback seems to be the talk of the town at the moment. However, there is no saying when and if it will actually happen. After all, the 35-year-old teased a comeback even last year, but it wound up remaining a distant dream.
